Orange pumpkin bread

A little orange flavor gives a traditional pumpkin bread recipe a bit of extra zing! Add raisins and nuts to give this quickbread a festive texture.

Orange pumpkin bread recipe

2 cups cooked pumpkin
1 cup orange juice
1 cup butter, softened
3 cups sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 cups flour
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, optional
1 cup raisins, optional


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Beat together pumpkin, orange juice, butter, sugar and eggs. Stir in dry ingredients and blend well.

Pour into 3 greased loaf pans and bake 50-60 minutes, until a cake tester comes out clean.

Let stand 10 minutes, then remove loaves from the pans and cool.
