The perfect shoe for you: 5 places to custom-design high heels

The web has ushered in the era of the custom everything… and if you’re a customer, that means lots of great things for you.

If you’re looking for special, perfect-for-you shoes — and we’re not talking about simple bridesmaid-style dye-to-match “customization” — we have some sites for you to see.

Shoes as you wish, from heel to toe

There are several websites that offer a way for you to choose everything from heel heights to materials to cutouts and other designs for your dress shoes. With you as the designer, you’ll be able to create ideal everyday shoes for yourself, or do something like making spot-on perfect wedding shoes the bridesmaids will want to wear long after the main event.

Of course, the privilege of going custom will probably cost you more than you’d spend for a pair of pumps off the rack — but you’ll end up with shoes that are really just what you wanted.

Project Shoe
New York’s Project Shoe starts you off with 12 different base model shoes — including loafers, ankle boots, flat & heeled oxfords, wedges, and several different types of high heels. Materials aren’t limited either, as they offer leathers, Italian silks, cottons and specially woven blends. And after you design your shoe? The style goes into their showcase. Upper Street
UK-based Upper Street lets you pick from a selection to get just what you want: overall style, upper shape, fronts, back, straps, colors and even embellishments, like diamantes, Swarovski jewels and studs. All shoes — in US sizes 3 to 12.5 — are made with leather inners and soles.

Shoes of Prey
Based out of Australia, Shoes of Prey offers customizable ballet flats, 1-1/2 to 4-1/2 inch heels and ankle boots in women’s US 2.5 to 15. Choose from a variety of colors and materials — more than 170 are available in a range of colors and textures, including suede, leather, patent leather, fish skin, snake skin, glitter, knits and more. Milk & Honey
At Milk & Honey Shoes, you can choose your heel height, type of back, toe shape, strap type, colors, materials and more. You can order pumps, flats, sandals and wedges — with or without embellishments — in sizes from women’s US 4 to 12. Nina Shoes
All Nina Shoes’ designs are currently made with satin, but you can choose one of their designs and select colors from a rotating palette of 16 options. Available in women’s US sizes 5-11, and made with satin uppers, their custom selections seem to be particularly suitable for wedding parties.

  1. I’m a bride-to-be and I’ve found your site so useful in the planning process. I ended up getting my wedding shoes completely custom made in my own design from scratch by Cinderbella Shoes online and love them. Hope this helps other brides! :)
